Prof. Dr. med. Julius Popp

Prof. Dr. med. Julius Popp is a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and a specialist in cognitive disorders and dementia, delirium, neuropsychiatric disorders and depression.

Professor Popp studied medicine in Tübingen and Bordeaux. He completed his training as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Bonn. From 2010 to 2011, he worked as a senior physician, then as a senior physician at the Department of Geriatric Psychiatry at Lausanne University Hospital, and later as head of the Department of Geriatric Psychiatry at Geneva University Hospital. Most recently, Prof. Popp was Deputy Head of the Clinic for Geriatric Psychiatry and Head of the Center for Geriatric Psychiatric Care at the Psychiatric University Clinic (PUK) in Zurich.

Prof Popp is a nationally and internationally recognized specialist in dementia and neuropsychiatric disorders. His scientific work focuses on research into dementia biomarkers and the establishment of new approaches to the prevention and treatment of dementia. At the Universities of Zurich and Lausanne, Prof. Popp leads various research projects on the early detection of dementia and the associated psychiatric disorders.

Prof. Popp coordinates or is actively involved in the development and publication of national guidelines and recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of neurocognitive and psychiatric disorders in old age. He is an active member of the board of the Swiss Memory Clinics.
