Dr. med. Günter Krämer

Günter Krämer (*1952 in Germany) studied psychology (up to the intermediate diploma) and medicine at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Germany). After gaining his license to practice medicine (1977), he completed his specialist training and doctorate at the university hospital there. From 1982 to 1994, he was a senior physician there and epilepsy became one of his clinical and scientific specialties. From 1994 to mid-2013, he was Chief Physician and Medical Director of the Swiss Epilepsy Center in Zurich, and since mid-2013 he has been working at the Bellevue Neurocenter.

Dr. Krämer is a member of Swiss, German and American professional associations for epilepsy. He was President of the Swiss League Against Epilepsy from 2001 to 2016 and is also represented in numerous working groups and commissions of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). He was a member of the ILAE's Therapy Commission from 2009 to 2013, then its Educational Commission and, from 2023, of a task force for the consideration of the interests of older patients.

He is the author/co-author of numerous articles in specialist journals and books as well as author/co-author and editor/co-editor of many books. In addition to his specialist publications, he has also written several books for people with epilepsy and their families.
