Thomas van Gelder – Naturopath, Federal Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

Thomas van Gelder is a naturopath with a federal diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is recognized by ASCA, RME, and Visana. His practice focuses on three main areas: acupuncture, herbal medicine, and Tuina massage.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive medical system that has been practiced for over 3,000 years. It is based on several fundamental pillars: acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tuina, and dietary therapy. Today, it is widely used around the world and provides therapeutic approaches suitable for both functional disorders and chronic conditions.

Since 2014, Thomas van Gelder has been teaching at the Liang Shen Institute of Chinese Medicine in Geneva, where he contributes to the training of students and the translation of key classical texts. Since 2024, he has also been involved in writing, translating, and teaching courses for the Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Medicine at Chengdu University in collaboration with the Liang Shen Institute.

His background includes extensive continuing education and specialization in pain management, gynecology and obstetrics, as well as various acupuncture styles (Master Tung, Dr. Tan, Korean SaAm, Japanese acupuncture by Dr. Mukaino, and Yijing acupuncture). He has also completed several clinical training programs in China, in Chengdu and Dali.
