Dr. med. Markus Wagner

After studying medicine at the University of Basel and a research position at the medical faculty of the University of Bern, Markus Wagner began his surgical training in Aarberg and then moved to the Department of Visceral and Transplant Surgery at the Inselspital in Bern. There he acquired profound knowledge in the entire field of abdominal and transplant surgery as well as minimally invasive surgical techniques in the abdominal cavity. After a two-year research stay in the USA, he returned to the Inselspital in Bern before taking up a position as head physician at the Spitalzentrum Oberwallis for two years. He has now been working as an attending physician at the Hirslanden clinics in Biel and Bern for several years. In addition to general and minimally invasive abdominal surgery, he is particularly interested in endocrine surgery - especially thyroid and parathyroid surgery.
