Dr Pedro Ming Azevedo is a specialist in rheumatology with particular expertise in the management of chronic pain. He supports patients suffering from rheumatological diseases and persistent pain, offering a holistic approach aimed at improving quality of life, mobility and daily functioning.
Of Brazilian and Swiss origin, Dr Ming Azevedo has an international background combining clinical practice, university teaching and scientific research. He obtained a doctorate in medicine from the University of São Paulo in Brazil, before continuing his academic career with a post-doctorate at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. This training enabled him to develop in-depth expertise in pain mechanisms and musculoskeletal diseases.
His clinical practice covers the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic diseases, joint, muscle and spinal pain, as well as chronic pain syndromes requiring specialized management. He is particularly interested in multidisciplinary approaches that integrate the medical, functional and psychosocial dimensions of chronic pain.
In the course of his career, he served as Head of the Rheumatology Department at the Evangélico-Mackenzie College of Medicine in Brazil. He currently coordinates a program dedicated to patients suffering from chronic pain at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV), in collaboration with teams specializing in pain treatment and rheumatology.
