Important Notice

General psychologists without additional psychotherapeutic training are not affected by the recent change in legislation. The new regulation allows reimbursement of psychotherapeutic sessions through the compulsory health insurance (LAMal), but applies exclusively to psychologists holding the professional title psychotherapist. Coverage through supplementary insurance varies. In most cases, supplementary insurance providers reimburse services provided by FSP psychologists, with the exception of certain insurers (e.g. CSS; non-exhaustive list). The specific terms and conditions of the patient’s insurance policy are always decisive. Patients are therefore advised to contact their health insurance provider directly, if needed, in order to obtain binding information regarding reimbursement of services provided by general psychologists.
