### Presentation of the healthcare professional
Dr Massimo Allegri is a specialist in the treatment of pain and analgesia. He assists patients suffering from acute or chronic pain, offering multidisciplinary care adapted to the nature and evolution of their symptoms. His expertise covers neuropathic pain, spinal pain, post-operative pain, musculoskeletal pain and complex pain requiring specialized assessment.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Pavia in 1999, and has devoted most of his career to pain medicine. During his specialist training, he furthered his knowledge at a number of European reference centers, including the Sint Niklaas Hospital in Belgium, the Inselspital in Berne, Switzerland, and the Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, Spain. He obtained his specialist title in 2003 with a paper on the organization of acute pain management services.
Between 2003 and 2014, Dr. Allegri practiced at the IRCCS San Matteo National Research Hospital in Pavia, where he participated in the development of new programs for the treatment of acute and chronic pain, while coordinating research activities in this field. He then joined the Hospital and University of Parma, where he directed one of Italy's leading pain treatment centers, combining clinical activity, teaching and research.
Particularly committed to medical innovation, he has coordinated several research projects devoted to the biological mechanisms of pain and genomic markers of back pain. Author of over one hundred international scientific publications, he actively contributes to the development of knowledge in the field of analgesia.
Since January 2023, Dr. Allegri has been Chief Physician at the Centre d'Antalgie de l'Ensemble hospitalier de la Côte (EHC), where he puts his expertise at the service of patients suffering from chronic or complex pain.
