### Presentation of the healthcare professional
Dr Stefan Bauer is an FMH specialist in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, with particular expertise in shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery. He treats degenerative, traumatic and sports-related pathologies affecting these joints, offering personalized treatment tailored to the needs of each patient.
Since his arrival at the Ensemble hospitalier de la Côte (EHC) in 2017, he has developed a specialized activity dedicated to shoulder and elbow surgery. His expertise covers the management of osteoarthritis, fractures, dislocations, rotator cuff injuries and complex pathologies of the upper limb. He regularly performs prosthetic surgery, shoulder stabilization and arthroscopic surgery.
After completing his medical studies and doctorate in cartilage repair at the University of Heidelberg, Dr. Bauer went on to train in orthopaedic surgery in Australia, before specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery at leading centers in Heidelberg and Lyon. This international training enabled him to acquire in-depth expertise in modern techniques of upper limb surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, he is also involved in research into biomechanics and shoulder surgery. In Morges, he has developed a clinical registry of several hundred shoulder prostheses, and is pursuing research into the optimization of inverted prostheses. His work is regularly presented at scientific conferences and published in specialist journals.
Internationally recognized, Dr. Bauer participates in the activities of several European and international scientific societies devoted to shoulder and elbow surgery. In 2025, he founded the Centre de l'épaule, du coude et du membre supérieur (Shoulder, Elbow and Upper Extremity Center) at the Hôpital de Morges, bringing together a wide range of specialist expertise to offer comprehensive care for pathologies of the upper limb.
