Dr Ioannis Papasavvas – FMH Specialist in Ophthalmology

Dr Ioannis Papasavvas is an Ophthalmologist working in the Center for Ophthalmic Specialised Care (COS) in Lausanne with special interest in Uveitis-Intraocular inflammation and Retinal diseases.

The Centre for Ophthalmic Specialised Care has a paramedical team consisting of a medical secretary, an orthoptist, an optometrist, and a medical photographer.

The secretary will answer your calls at 021 643 1512 from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Our Center offers the following consultation options:

• General ophthalmology consultations (adults and children)
• Uveitis (intraocular inflammation) and scleritis for adults and children
• Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and treatment with intravitreal injections
• Diabetic retinopathy and treatment with laser and/or intravitreal injections
• Eye exams for driver's licenses
• Eye exams for glasses (adults and children)
• Orthoptic assessments with the assistance of a specialized orthoptist

Our Center has a wide variety of ophthalmic devices for the diagnosis and monitoring of the aforementioned pathologies:

• Retinal Scanning (OCT)
• OCT Angiography
• Inflammation measurement using Tyndal's automated photometry (Flare)
• Visual Field Test
• Angiography (fluorescein and Indocyanine green)

The Specialized Ophthalmology Center is located near the Georgette bus stop and the Bellefontaine public car park

Dr Papasavvas' Curriculum Vitae

He graduated from Medical School in the University of Ioannina in Greece. Then he started training in General Medicine in the University of Burgundy, Dijon, France. He started his specialty in Ophthalmology at the General Hospital of Patras “St Andreas”, Greece.

Dr Papasavvas finished his training in ophthalmology at the Center C of the Montchoisi clinic in Lausanne, Switzerland. He succeeded in the EBO-FMH exam and obtained his FMH title as Specialist in Ophthalmology from the Swiss Board of Medicine and is a Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology. He completed a Fellowship in Retinal diseases, Uveitis and Intraocular inflammation in COS, Lausanne under Prof Herbort and a Fellowship in Uveitis and Intraocular Inflammation in Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK under Prof Pavesio.

He has authored more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and participated as a speaker in many Congresses.

Besides working as an Ophthalmologist in COS, he is an Honorary Fellow in Uveitis in Moorfields Eye Hospital and Assistant editor in Journal of Intraocular Inflammation.
