Ward physician at the See-Spital Horgen Women's Clinic

Dr. Maria Karakitsiou has been working as a gynaecologist at GYNMED and as a ward physician for gynaecology and obstetrics at See-Spital Horgen since 2025. She completed her specialist training at Inselspital Bern and Spital Region Oberaargau in Langenthal, among others. Prior to this, she gained extensive clinical experience in general surgery both in Switzerland and Greece.

Dr. Karakitsiou studied human medicine at the Comenius University, where she worked scientifically in the field of clinical pharmacology as part of her diploma thesis. She then completed a research fellowship at the ENT department of the University Hospital Graz.

She is a member of the Swiss Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (SGGG).

She is particularly interested in urogynecology.
