Dr. med. Khaleda Sajjadi Maeder 

Dr. med. Khaleda Sajjadi Maeder is a Senior Physician in Urogynecology at the Frauenzentrum Bern of Lindenhofgruppe AG, where she has been working since November 2021. She is a Specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics with an additional focus on operative gynecology, urogynecology, pelvic floor disorders, and pregnancy ultrasound.

Urogynecology is a specialized field within gynecology that focuses on disorders of the female pelvic floor and urinary system. It includes the assessment and treatment of conditions such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, bladder dysfunction, and other pelvic floor complaints. Depending on the diagnosis and the patient’s individual situation, treatment may include conservative approaches as well as surgical procedures for pelvic floor reconstruction.

In addition to urogynecology, Dr. Sajjadi Maeder has advanced training in operative gynecology and obstetrics. This field encompasses surgical procedures for a range of benign and malignant gynecological conditions and complements general gynecological care, which includes preventive examinations, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the female reproductive system, contraception, family planning, and care during pregnancy.

Before joining the Frauenzentrum Bern, Dr. Sajjadi Maeder gained several years of experience in hospital-based and outpatient gynecology. From 2016 to 2021, she worked as a Senior Physician at the Women’s Clinic of Spitalzentrum Biel. Between 2018 and 2022, she also worked as a Specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Medizentrum Schüpfen.

Her postgraduate training included several positions at the Women’s Clinic of Inselspital Bern, where she worked as a resident physician between 2010 and 2015, as well as a position in gynecology and obstetrics at Spital Visp. Earlier in her career, she also gained surgical experience at SRO Langenthal.

Dr. Sajjadi Maeder obtained her specialist qualification in gynecology and obstetrics in 2015 and subsequently completed further qualifications in operative gynecology and urogynecology. In 2020, she obtained the diploma in operative gynecology as well as a certificate of competence in pregnancy ultrasound. Her additional training includes certification in first-trimester pregnancy screening and pre-eclampsia screening through the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) in London. In 2021, she obtained the AGUB I certification in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic floor surgery.

Dr. Sajjadi Maeder studied human medicine at the University of Bern from 2002 to 2009. During her medical training, she also completed clinical placements in pediatrics, gynecology, and obstetrics in Kabul, Afghanistan.

She received her doctorate in 2009 for research investigating quantitative and qualitative changes in the vascular system of the mammary gland in ephrin-B2 knockout mice.

Her clinical background combines general gynecology and obstetrics with urogynecology, pelvic floor medicine, operative gynecology, and pregnancy ultrasound, allowing her to address a broad range of women’s health concerns with a particular focus on pelvic floor disorders.
