Dr. Fabio von Faber-Castell is a board-certified specialist in neurosurgery (FMH). During his first year as a resident in internal medicine at Hirslanden Clinic Zurich, he acquired a broad foundation of internal medicine knowledge. In the following years, as a neurosurgery resident at Aarau Cantonal Hospital, he gained extensive theoretical knowledge and broad surgical experience, with a focus on spinal neurosurgery.
During a six-month position at the cerebrovascular lab in Bern, he dedicated himself to neurovascular research, particularly in microsurgery. He completed his final year of residency at the University Hospital Zurich. After obtaining his specialist title, he was promoted to senior physician at the same institution, focusing on spinal neurosurgery and functional neurosurgery.
Through his fellowship in complex & minimally invasive spinal neurosurgery at the renowned St. Michael’s Hospital Trauma Centre in Toronto, he was able to further refine his surgical skills, particularly in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, navigation-guided instrumentation, and neurostimulation therapy (SCS).
In November 2023, he obtained the interdisciplinary subspecialty in spine surgery (SGNC and SO), followed by the interdisciplinary subspecialty in interventional pain therapy (SSIPM) in December 2023.
At the end of 2023, Dr. Fabio von Faber-Castell founded the practice community von Faber-Castell and opened his practice for spine surgery, interventional pain therapy, and neurosurgery in April 2024 within this interdisciplinary medical group.
