Born in Italy (Rome), I completed my medical studies in 1987 in Germany (Munich), obtained my doctorate in 1989, and became a board-certified neurosurgeon in 1997. Trained as an "orthopedic" neurosurgeon (FMH) in Germany and Switzerland (including at the University Hospital Balgrist from 2004–2012), I have been dedicated to treating spinal complaints, diseases, and injuries for almost 30 years, from both neurosurgical and orthopedic perspectives. My training has given me a deep appreciation for the importance of both nerve decompression and spinal stability, as well as a biomechanical understanding of the spine. Since 2012, I have been a consulting and attending physician for spinal surgery at Hirslanden Klinik Im Park, Stadtspital Triemli, Spital Zollikerberg, and Spital Affoltern. Privately, I live near Zurich, am married, and a father of one daughter.
