__Prof. Dr. med. Arto Nirkko is a specialist in neurology, neurovascular diseases, clinical neurophysiology and sleep medicine SGSSC. Prof. Nirkko studied at the University of Bern.__
He completed his specialist training at the Inselspital in Bern. Nirkko has a broad neurological education, was a senior physician at Inselspital Bern for many years and is a specialist in clinical neurophysiology (EMNG, evoked potentials, EEG and epileptology, neurosonography) as well as a specialist and center director for sleep medicine SGSSC and, in this function, previously head physician of two sleep clinics in Lucerne. He is also active in the field of neurodegenerative diseases and movement disorders, including botulinum toxin injections, as well as in general neurology. As part of his residency at the Hirslanden Klinik St. Anna in Lucerne, he also took part in the neurological emergency service there from 2015 to 2021. Due to his research activities, he also has extensive experience with imaging methods, in particular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
