He helps patients regulate brain activity and key physiological functions to improve focus, sleep, emotional balance, performance, and overall well-being. Neurofeedback uses real-time measurement of brain activity to train the brain's self-regulation — a kind of gym for the brain. Biofeedback applies the same principle to body signals such as breathing, heart rate variability (HRV), temperature, and skin conductance. In his Neuchâtel practice, Dr Messinis combines both with quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain mapping and, where appropriate, photobiomodulation — also known as red light therapy.
