Winterthur Eye Center

The Winterthur Ophthalmology Center is located at Scheideggstrasse 33 in the “Triamal” shopping center in Winterthur’s Grüze neighborhood. The practice offers preventive eye exams, diagnostic evaluations, and both conservative and surgical treatments. Ophthalmology focuses on the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the eyes, visual function, the retina, and the eyelids.

The medical services include routine checkups and the evaluation of eye emergencies. Conditions examined and treated include cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and various retinal diseases. Other areas of focus include eyelid treatments, pediatric ophthalmology, and laser eye treatments. For children, the clinic also evaluates refractive errors, strabismus, and disorders of vision and eye movement.

The medical director of the facility is Dr. med. Darius Madjdpour, a specialist in ophthalmology and eye surgery (FMH, FEBO, and FICO) and the medical co-director. The interdisciplinary team includes specialists in ophthalmology, ophthalmic surgery, anesthesiology, critical care medicine, orthoptics, optometry, and medical practice assistance.

For ophthalmic diagnostics, equipment is available for visual field testing, optical coherence tomography, biometry, and retinal photography, among other procedures. Outpatient cataract surgeries, eyelid procedures, and intravitreal treatments are performed in the integrated surgical center. The surgical area features two operating rooms, six preparation rooms, a physically separate recovery room, its own anesthesia team, and an in-house central sterilization unit.

The practice is located on the third floor and can be accessed via the side entrance on Scheideggstrasse. Due to multiple doors, access is only partially barrier-free. People with limited mobility are asked to contact the practice in advance by phone. The Winterthur Grüze train station is just a few minutes’ walk away; the “Scheidegg” bus stop is served by bus line 3. Parking spaces are available in the blue zone in front of the entrance as well as in the shopping center’s underground parking garage.

The practice is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It can be reached by phone at 052 242 38 38.

Appointments at the Winterthur Eye Center can be booked online via OneDoc. Patients receive a reminder via text message before their scheduled appointment. For children, appointments must be made by phone so that a suitable time slot for the examination can be scheduled.
