Aarau Eye Center

The Aarau Ophthalmology Center is located at Bahnhofplatz 3h, right next to the Aarau train station. The practice offers examinations, consultations, and treatments in the fields of ophthalmology and eye surgery. Ophthalmology deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the eye, visual function, as well as the eyelids and adjacent structures.

The medical services include routine ophthalmological checkups, the evaluation of eye emergencies, and the treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and various retinal diseases. Other areas of focus include eyelid treatments, pediatric ophthalmology, strabology, and laser eye treatments. For patients with dry age-related macular degeneration, photobiomodulation using the Valeda device is also offered.

The interdisciplinary team includes specialists in ophthalmology and eye surgery with FMH and FEBO certifications. Medical care is complemented by specialists in orthoptics, optometry, anesthesiology, and intensive care medicine. Dr. med. Manuela Otten, an FMH-certified ophthalmologist and chief physician for retinal surgery, serves as the medical director of the facility. Other areas of expertise within the team include, among others, glaucoma treatment, oculoplastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, and strabology.

The accessible practice facilities feature well-lit examination rooms and diagnostic equipment. An on-site surgical center enables outpatient procedures to be performed at the practice. It includes two operating rooms, eight preparation rooms, a separate recovery room, a central sterilization unit, and the practice’s own anesthesia team. The surgical area is also equipped to perform procedures on children.

The practice is easily accessible by public transportation and is located just a few steps from Aarau’s main train station. The “Gleis 0” paid parking garage is located in the same building. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The center can be reached by phone at 062 822 88 22.
