About me

Allow me to briefly introduce myself: my name is Markus Faia and I am very pleased to care for you at the Medical Center Karlihof.

I grew up in Kreuzlingen, Thurgau, where I completed my schooling up to the Swiss Matura. I began my medical studies in Fribourg, in French-speaking Switzerland, and completed them in Zurich. My postgraduate training years as a resident physician took place at the Cantonal Hospital Frauenfeld (Spital Thurgau AG) in surgery, urology, internal medicine, and finally rehabilitation (Rheumatology Clinic St. Katharinental). I also worked for 2.5 years in psychiatry (Clienia Littenheid) in acute psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and acute child and adolescent psychiatry.

I have four school-age children (two girls and two boys) who continue to live with their mother in Eastern Switzerland. Spending time with them on weekends and holidays is very important to me.

The reason for moving to Malans in Graubünden was a meeting with Rico Rieder from the Medical Center Maienfeld, where we quickly realized that our ideas about patient care and support were based on the same foundation.
