Specialization in holistic women’s medicine and ultrasound medicine

Dr. med. Saputra is a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics with a focus on prenatal medicine. His interdisciplinary approach combines Western conventional medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), aesthetic medicine, and psychosomatic primary care. He is the founder of the Mahameru Center for Gynecology, TCM, and Aesthetics in Frutigen, Switzerland.

Born in 1987 in Jakarta, Indonesia, Dr. Saputra grew up in his hometown. After medical school, he moved directly to Germany, where he successfully passed the equivalency examination for medical licensure — the so-called "Kenntnisprüfung" in four medical disciplines.

He began his specialist training in gynecology and obstetrics in Berlin. To broaden his horizons, he later joined a hospital in southern Thuringia under Dr. Matthias Schmidt. At that time, Dr. Schmidt was newly appointed chief physician of the Level I Perinatal Center, Breast Center, Pelvic Floor Center, and Gynecology Department, and invited Dr. Saputra as the only member of his previous team to join him.

After passing the specialist examination, Dr. Saputra was promoted to senior physician. Under Dr. Schmidt’s mentorship, he deepened his expertise in obstetrics and perinatal medicine, specializing early in gynecological and obstetric ultrasound. He obtained the DEGUM Level II ultrasound qualification (German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine) in 2020 at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, examined by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Henrich.

In parallel, he earned his doctorate at Friedrich Schiller University Jena on operative obstetric cerclage to prevent preterm births. He also completed two consecutive master’s programs in Nuremberg and Jena:

His passion for learning and teaching continues to this day.

After Dr. Schmidt’s retirement, Dr. Saputra moved to the University Hospital Marburg, Campus Fulda, to continue his training in gynecologic oncology. In 2022, he was appointed lead physician at Spital Linth, Switzerland, and subsequently became head of gynecology and obstetrics at Spital Frutigen.

Despite his young age, Dr. Saputra has held multiple leadership positions in Germany and Switzerland. In Switzerland, he is also highly engaged: he holds, among others, the colposcopy diploma (Basel) and Swiss proficiency certificates in ultrasound and laboratory medicine.

After the closure of the maternity ward at Spital Frutigen, Dr. Saputra continues to ensure reliable gynecological care in the Kandertal through his private practice and founding of the Mahameru Center.

Dr. Saputra brings international clinical experience — as a speaker at medical conferences in Europe, through academic teaching, and via humanitarian missions in Africa.
